KEKOA
My name is Kekoa Lum. I was born and raised in Hawai’i Nei. I’m 31 years young and have been working in the tattoo industry for the past 13 years. I carried through a traditional apprenticeship from a great friend of mine, the deeply talented, OG Libra, and I officially began tattooing in 2012.
In my ‘old life,' I’ve seen a lot and have been through more. Despite everything I’ve been through, I made it out to the other side, alive and wiser, and that’s partially because of tattooing. Art has always kept me on my path, be it through skateboarding and graffiti, to changing lives by tattooing people. The pride I take in my work, I hope one day speaks for itself.
Japanese, lettering, neo-traditional, color, and black & grey; I love it all. I like to draw mostly everything from scratch so that it’s unique to the individual wearing the tattoo, and also for me doing the tattoo. I think that’s important in order to stay invested in the tattoos that we do. I have a tremendous amount of respect for my craft, and will continue to do my best to portray that in my work.
